Doris R. Birt Moore Topeka
Doris R. Birt Moore, 83, of Topeka, Kansas, peacefully passed away to be with the Lord on January 21, 2012.
Doris will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, faithful friend and servant of many. She always put others’ needs above her own and was loved by many. Doris was a woman of prayer. She was very active in Most Pure Heart of Mary Parish since 1955 and worked as the school secretary at Assumption Catholic Grade School. Doris loved to travel, garden and cook. She was involved in multiple bridge groups and social clubs. Doris’ family will remember the many long walks and talks with her following meals at family gatherings.
Doris is survived by her husband, John P. Moore, Jr.; her children, Carol M. Birt, M.D., of Lawrence, Kansas; Thomas J. Birt and his wife, Isolde Birt, of Lawrence, Kansas; Mary Ann Burris and her husband, Brian Burris, of Wichita, Kansas; her grandchildren, Henry Birt, Adrienne Birt, Kyle Burris, Anna Birt and Yelena Birt; and her sister, Donna Richards. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, John H. Birt, their son, James H. Birt, and her brother, Nick Hassur.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 25, 2012 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Remembrances of Doris will begin at 7 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:30. Graveside service will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Parsons, Kansas, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2012.
