Bill Mondi 1950 - 2012 Lawrence
Funeral services for Bill Mondi, 61, Lawrence, KS, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2012, at the Mustard Seed Church in Lawrence, KS. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence. He died early Sunday, January 15, 2012 at the Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka, KS.
Bill was born on January 18, 1950 in Charleroi, PA, the son of Basil W. & Anna Mae Rendos Mondi. He grew up in Monessen, PA, and moved to Lawrence in 1983.
At the time of his death, he was the Lead Fiscal Analyst for the Kansas Department of Health and Environment in Topeka, KS.
He was a graduate with a B.S. in Industrial Education from California State College in California, PA.
Bill was a fly fishing enthusiast and was a member of the Free State Fly Fishers. He had also coached for many years in the Douglas County Amateur Baseball Association (DCABA) and Youth Sports, Inc. (YSI) Programs in Lawrence.
He was married to Becky Houk on May 20, 1972, in Monessen, PA. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Michael (wife, Kelly) Mondi, of Lawrence, KS, Marc Mondi, of Des Moines, IA; two brothers, Tony (wife, Cindy) Mondi, of Greensburg, PA, John (wife, Janelle) Mondi, of Saegertown, PA; and grandchildren: Caleb, Cole, Chase, and Ava Grace.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in his name to the City of Lawrence Youth Sports, or Lawrence Youth Football or Heartland Community Health Center-Food Pantry, and may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
