Betty Jean Taul

Betty Jean Taul, age 85, of Baldwin City, died January 12, 2012, at Baldwin Healthcare and Rehab Center, Baldwin City. She was born September 1, 1926, in Westhope, North Dakota, the daughter of Everett Allan Kinyon and Nellie Agnes (Gilmore) Kinyon.
She moved to Eudora with her family at the age of three, Topeka at age five, and Baldwin City at the age of ten, living there all the rest of her life. She attended and graduated grade school and high school in Baldwin City, graduating from Baldwin High School with the class of 1944.
Betty worked for Hallmark Cards and at Raney Plaza Drug, both of Lawrence, for several years. She then became the receptionist at Stephen Christy O.D. clinic and worked there until her retirement, to help raise her grandson, Tanner.
She was a member of Worden United Methodist Church, Mother’s Club, Hestia Study Club, P.T.A., all of Baldwin City, as well as a member of the U.S.D. 348 School Board, Baldwin City, for over ten years.
On August 12, 1945, Betty was united in marriage with C.T. Taul at First United Methodist Church in Baldwin City. They shared over sixty-six years of marriage together, all of those years on the same farm near the Baldwin Junction.
She is survived by her husband; C.T. Taul of the home; two sons, Tommy Taul and his companion, Sherrie Taylor, of Manhattan, Bobby Taul and his wife, Terry, of Topeka; five grandchildren, Kelly Taul, Wylie Taul, Baylee Taul Teagarden, Kaylee Taul, Tanner Taul; two great-grandchildren, Kayden Taul, Wes Teagarden; three sisters, Jo Lynn Ginter of Topeka, Donna Roberts of Topeka, Mary Auldridge of Amarillo, Texas; and a brother, Gary Hunter of Topeka.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Jackie Hunter, Helen Beam and Doty; and two brothers, Sonny Larson, Raymond Larson.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 19, 2012, at Worden United Methodist Church, Baldwin City. Burial will follow at Worden Cemetery.
Mrs. Taul will lie in state at the Worden United Methodist Church from 4p.m. Wednesday until the visitation. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 Wednesday evening at the Worden United Methodist Church.
