Barbara Jean Barnhill 1935 - 2012
Barbara Jean Barnhill, 76, Topeka, died Mon., Jan. 9, 2012, at Stormont-Vail Hospital. She was born June 22, 1935, in Topeka, the daughter of Lawrence A. and Clarice (Copeland) Gustafson. Barbara graduated from Highland Park High School in 1953. She was an account rep at Jardine Insurance for 10 years before retiring. Barbara was a member of Central Park Christian Church, American Businesswomen, and Kansas Society of Insurance Women. She was married to Donald A. Puckett, Jr., on Aug. 21, 1953, in Topeka, and to this union four children were born. She was married to Harvey A. Barnhill on Aug. 27, 1977, in Topeka. He preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 1982. Surviving are 4 children: Larry Puckett (Janeen), Jennifer Jensen (Dana), Dawna Puckett, and Kathy Summers (Jeff); 4 step-children: Ron Barnhill (Suzie), Larry Barnhill, Pamela Barnhill-Wulfkuhle (Lloyd), and Theresa Barnhill; a sister: Delores Wicker; a companion: Lanny Lentz; 14 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Fri., Jan. 13, 2012, at Central Park Christian Church. Interment in Rochester Cemetery. Barbara will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Thurs., at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave., where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
