Lou L. Houston

Lou passed away on February 16, 2012, at the age of 71, surrounded by his loving wife, children, and son-in-law. He left us just short of his 50th wedding anniversary.
He was a well-respected, and accomplished scientist (Biochemist), and did his research in both Academia (University of Kansas), and the bio-tech industry on the West Coast. His cancer research with world leading researchers like himself was done in Europe, Asia, and the U.S. He particularly enjoyed his time living with his family in Basel, Switzerland.
Lou made friends wherever he went. He was an interesting man to say the least. We appreciated his sharp mind, driven nature, and that he loved to tell a good story. He was a kind and generous man who loved to have people to dinner.
Lou cultivated lifelong friendships, and along with his wife created a loving family. He was dedicated to his wife, Teri, and children, Leslie (Alex), and Scott (Shelly). He was an adoring Granpa to Sierra, Sam, Isaac, and Cole. He was intensely proud of his children and grandchildren, to whom he passed on his sense of curiosity, intelligence, and creativity.
Lou fiercely and courageously survived his cancer for eleven years. He truly did not want to leave us. We are grateful for his courage, tenacity, and his love. We will sorely miss him but cherish the memories he has left us, and treasure the family he created.
Per his request, there will be no funeral.
Donations in Lou’s memory if you wish may be made to Hospice of Kitsap County, P.O. Box 3416, Silverdale, WA 98383. Please sign the online Guest Book for the family at: www.cookfamilyfuneralhome.com.
