Marcia Streeter Marcum

Celebration services for Marcia Streeter Marcum, 84, Lawrence, KS, will be held at 10:30am Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Lawrence KS. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence. She died on Saturday, February 4, 2012 in Arizona.
Born Marcia Sue Streeter in Claremore, Oklahoma, to Pauline and Eltinge Streeter on December 19, 1927, with four younger siblings, three sisters and one brother.
She graduated from Claremore High School in 1945. Having studied at Oklahoma Baptist University for three years, She graduated from Oklahoma University in 1949.
In her early years she was a teacher of English and speech at Atoka, Oklahoma High School and Bell Junior High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She also served as secretary for Dresser Engineering in Tulsa and First Southern Baptist Church for several years.
She was married to Harold Marcum on June 20, 1959 in Claremore, OK.
She leaves behind a loving family and many friends–husband, Harold; sons, Scott Marcum and Rick Marcum (wife, Laurence); daughters, Laura Marcum and Melinda Heeb (husband, Jay); three grandsons, Michael Heeb, Jake Marcum, and Zachary Heeb; and five granddaughters, Katy and Megan Marcum and Trisha, Gabriella and Taylor Heeb.
Her family remembers her as being a wonderful cook and a loving grandmother with a quick wit and a will of iron. She was a loyal friend and will be missed by a host of friends and relatives.
The family will greet friends from 5:30 – 7:00pm Friday at the Marcum home, located at 425 Nebraska Street in Lawrence.
The family suggests memorials in her name to the American Cancer Society and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
