Henrietta Lee Olson 1904 - 2012 Kansas City, KS

Henrietta Lee Olson, 108, Kansas City, KS, died Sunday, December 30, 2012 at the Medicalodges Eudora. Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 3, at the Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, KS. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Funeral Home.
Henrietta was born October 22, 1904, in Sugar Creek, MO the daughter of Harry and Mary Lee. She moved to Kansas when she was a small child and lived in Kansas the rest of her life. She attended several different grade schools and graduated from Wyandotte High School and KCK Jr. College. She worked as a telephone operator until her marriage to Waldene L. Olson in 1926 and he preceded her in death shortly after they celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary. They moved with their two children to a mini farm in Muncie KS in 1941, spending the rest of their lives there. Henrietta's love of horses brought the beloved horse Topsy into the family. She always welcomed all to family get-to-gathers and fed them well. She rode a horse, working as a county tax assessor and a census taker and then worked at the North American Bomber Plant, A & P Grocery, Union Gas and in the X-ray Dept. at Bethany Hospital, later becoming a Real Estate Broker, and owning her own company Olson Real Estate. She was a member of the D.A.R. the Oakdale Saddle Club and was a volunteer at the american Royal Horse Show. She stayed "Young" all of the 108 years of her life, even the last three at Eudora Medicalodge. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Waldene, son Robert W. Olson, two brothers and two sisters. Henrietta is survived by a daughter, Helen J. Enright Smith, four grandchildren, Julia (Dick) Schumann, Stephen (Sue) Enright, Jenny (Joseph) Steineger and Russell (Debbi) Enright, many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, one great great great grandson and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
