Bernice Shivers Lakey Mosser

Bernice Shivers Lakey Mosser, age 91, a longtime resident of Lawrence and Eudora passed away on Saturday, Dec. 1st, 2012 at the Brandon Woods Nursing Home in Lawrence, KS. Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7th, at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Eudora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening also at the funeral home.
Bernice was born on May 12, 1921 in Passover, Missouri to Zeb and Vernie Shivers. She married Paul Lakey in 1936 in Camden, Missouri. Together they lived in several states before settling in Lawrence, KS. Paul Lakey preceded her in death. Later she worked at JC Penney, learned to drive, and made trips to Texas to visit her sister and family. Bernice married Percy Mosser in 1979 and together they lived briefly in De Soto and then Eudora. Their lives were busy with farming and traveling. They made many trips to Colorado and most of the western states. Bernice enjoyed reading, sewing, traveling but most of all spending time with her wonderful friends and family. She is preceded in death by her husband Percy Mosser, her parents, one sister Shirley Jensen and two brothers Delmar and Gene Shivers. Survivors include niece Josey Jones and husband Paul, niece Cindy Ramay and husband Rick, great nephew Jeff, his wife Angela and 2 children Joshua and Ayden and great niece Andrea, her husband John and 2 children Jack and Cole whom all live in North Texas.
