Jane Riley Pendry 1930 - 2012 Lawrence
A Mass of Christian Burial for Jane Riley Pendry, 82, Lawrence, KS, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 31, 2012 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence, KS. She died on Monday, August 27, 2012 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Jane was born on April 17, 1930, in Burlington, IA, the daughter of Harold Paul and Lucy Whittemore Riley. She grew up in Burlington, IA. She had been a resident of Lawrence since 1954.
She was a graduate from St. Paul High School in 1948, and then attended and graduated from Maryville College in St. Louis. She later attended the University of Kansas.
She sold real estate for Stephens Real Estate Agency since January of 1985.
Jane was a member of the Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Lawrence Board of Realtors, the Kansas and National Association of Realtors, and a former member of the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce.
She married Charles William “Chuck” Pendry on February 3, 1951, in Burlington, IA. He preceded her in death December 13, 1993.
Survivors include four sons, Charles W.“Chugg” Pendry, Jr. and wife, Jann, Palm Beach, FL, Paul E. Pendry, and wife, Mary, Lawrence, David J. Pendry, and wife, Debbie, Newton, KS, John E. Pendry, and wife, Lindsey, Lawrence; one sister, Lucy Ringold, Des Moines, IA; ten grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
A Parish Rosary will be recited on Thursday at 6:30 p.m., with visitation to follow until 8 p.m. at the Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
The family suggests memorials in her name to the LMH Oncology Department through the LMH Endowment Association, the Williams Fund, or to the Corpus Christi Catholic Church and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
