Gene Arthur Meeker

Gene Arthur Meeker, 69, of rural Oskaloosa, died Saturday, August 18, 2012 at the Windsor Place Assisted Living Center in Lawrence. He was born April 3, 1943 at Abilene, the son of Roy and Mable Steinbrook Meeker. He was a 1961 graduate of Solomon High School and earned his B.S. degree in Education and Mechanical Arts from Emporia State Teacher’s College in 1965. Mr. Meeker was a School Teacher and taught auto shop and industrial arts at Lecompton and Perry-Lecompton High School for many years. He also worked for the Aero Quip company in Lawrence before owning and operating Meeker Repair and Service in rural Oskaloosa.
He is survived by a cousin, Katherine Griffin, Abilene and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald Meeker.
Grave Side Services will be at 1:00 PM, Friday, August 24, 2012 at the Abilene Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, Thursday at the Barnett Family Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.
