Pauline Ann Bysom

Pauline Ann Bysom, 89, of Lawrence, passed away April 22 at Pioneer Ridge Health Center. She was comforted in her final days by family and friends.
Pauline was born November 2, 1922, in Junction City, Kan., the daughter of William and Alice Moore. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Clyde Bysom; daughter, Terri Bysom Stringer; sisters, Nancy Boozer and Virginia Tucker; brother, Robert Moore; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sisters Mary Jane and Margaret.
A graduate of Junction City High School and the University of Kansas, Pauline taught Common Learnings for 25 years at Central Junior High School in Lawrence. Before teaching, Pauline had returned to KU at the age of 39 to finish her bachelor’s and master’s degrees and complete 20 hours of doctorate work.
Pauline’s life outside of teaching included spending time with family and friends, playing golf, traveling across the county and abroad, studying history, reading fiction and caring for animals. She was extremely generous and kindhearted, always willing to help family, friends, students and charitable causes.
A memorial service will be held at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence, Monday April 30th at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Pauline’s memory to Lawrence Humane Society, and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
