Sheri Johansen 1934 - 2012 Baldwin City
Sheri Johansen, age 78 of Baldwin City, KS passed away on April 4 of breast cancer at Baldwin Care Center of Baldwin. She was born Sheri Jean Jones on September 7th 1934 in Topeka KS to Carl Fredric Jones and Geneva Jeanette (Barnhart) Jones. She spent most of her youth in Spokane Washington. Her Father Carl worked for Santa Fe Railroad and they moved to Melvern, KS where she graduated from high school with the class of 1952.
She began her career in 1953 as an operator for Bell Telephone and finished her career as an operator for Kansas University Information, retiring in 1998.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Baldwin City, Order of the Eastern Star of Lyndon and The Red Hat Ladies of Baldwin City.
Her surviving children are Cynthia Burnett, of Topeka, Kathy Johansen, Jon Johansen and Kristina Johansen Villaca of Baldwin. She is the beloved grandmother of Kyleigh Garman, Isabella Johansen Villaca and Andrew Johansen Villaca. Her siblings are Larry Jones, Patricia Deaver and Ann Crusinbery.
She was preceded in death by her oldest son Andrew Johansen.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at First United Methodist Church, Baldwin City.
Mrs. Johansen’s will lie in state at the Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Monday. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Monday evening at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, c/o Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, 712 Ninth St., P.O. Box 64, Baldwin City, Kansas 66006.
