James Lee Mace

Memorial services for James Lee Mace, 68, Lawrence, will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
Mr. Mace died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at his home in Lawrence.
He was born April 19, 1943, in Rolla, Mo. He moved to Lawrence in the late 1950s.
Mr. Mace worked as a bartender for The Flamingo Club for more than 45 years. He had also worked for the Lawrence Paper Company, Price’s Appliance Repair and Steve’s Appliance Repair. He was a former member of the U.S. Army Reserves.
He married Vicci Evans on Feb. 12, 1966, in Lawrence. They later divorced. She survives of Lawrence.
He is also survived by a daughter, Marketa McKenzie, Allen, Texas; and four grandchildren, Lukas Mace, Brandon, Katelyn and Haidyn McKenzie, all of Allen, Texas.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marsha Mace, in 2006.
The family will greet friends at 5 p.m. following the memorial service Tuesday at The Flamingo Club in North Lawrence.
The family suggests memorials to the Lawrence Humane Society, sent in care of the mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
