Lloyd Joseph Bourque

Lloyd J. Bourque, 84, of Lawrence, died October 21, 2011 in Topeka at Midland Hospice Care.
Lloyd was born on August 16, 1927 in Kaplan, LA, the son of Ophe and Laura (Guidry) Bourque. He served in the Air Corps from 1945, being honorably discharged in 1947.
Lloyd was employed at DuPont from 1958, retiring as a Lab Technician in 1985. He attended the First Southern Baptist Church in Lawrence, since 1979, where he was an active volunteer at the church. He enjoyed woodworking and playing his guitars.
Lloyd married Beverly June Kretsinger on May 13, 1954 in Kansas City, Missouri. She survives. Lloyd is also survived by a daughter, Laura Browne (Michael), of Topeka and two granddaughters, Heather and Kelsey of Topeka; four sisters, Velma Langlinais, Nederland, TX, Myrtle Kilday, Harahan, LA, Eulan Richard, Abbeville, LA, and Dolores Romero (Denis), New Iberia, LA, one brother, Dalton Bourque (Patricia), Douglasville, GA and numerous nieces and nephews. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Wilda Vincent, Hilda Gary and Irene Bourque.
Lloyd will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 pm and a Prayer Service will be at 7:00 pm. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Monday at the First Southern Baptist Church, 4300 W 6th Street, Lawrence, KS where the family will receive friends from 9:00 until service time. Interment with military honors provided by the Army National Guard will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence.
