Harold Dwayne Cross

Harold Dwayne Cross, 85, of Troy, Kansas passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at the Atchison Medicalodge in Atchison, Kansas.
Dwayne was born on December 16, 1925 in Troy, Kansas to Lloyd Sr. & Velma (Eader) Cross. He was a lifelong resident of Troy. Served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946, joined the Kansas National Guard in Troy from 1948 till 1968, then served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and finished up his military service in the Kansas National Guard retiring in 1985. Following his military retirement he worked at Farm Bureau Insurance in Troy until 1990.
He was member of the First Christian Church, American Legion Post #55, Masonic Lodge all of Troy, V.F.W. Post #5531 of Wathena, 40 & 8 of Atchison, Elks of Hiawatha and a Lifetime member of the “Big Red One” First Infantry Division of Officers.
Dwayne married Lou Ann Dannevik on November 5, 1949 in Troy. She preceded him in death on March 22, 1987. He was also preceded in death by his parents & a brother, Lloyd Cross Jr.
Survived by his sons, Tom (Martha) Cross of Peter’s Creek, Alaska, Jerry (Laura) Cross of Atchison, Kansas, Matt (Rita) Cross of Lancaster, Kansas, Jack (Tammy) Cross of Lawrence, Kansas; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, sister, Juanita Juhl of Wathena.
Funeral Services: 11: 00 A.M. Saturday, October 22, 2011 at: Harman Rohde Funeral Home in Troy, Kansas.
Visitation: 6-8 Friday evening at the funeral home, where friends may call after 12 NOON Thursday.
Burial: St. Charles Catholic Cemetery in Troy where there will be Full Military Honors under the auspices of Kansas National Army Guard of Topeka, Kansas.
