Kenneth Leon Lafferty

]Funeral services for Kenneth Leon Lafferty, 72, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at De Soto Baptist Church, 8655 Church St., De Soto. Burial will be at De Soto Cemetery.
Mr. Lafferty died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, at Olathe Medical Center.
He was born May 19, 1939, in Burlington, the son of Omer William and Vaneta Addean Shultz Lafferty. He was a 1957 graduate of De Soto High School.
He retired after 22 years in the U.S. Navy.
He and his wife moved to Lawrence in 1978, and he was an electronics instrument technician for the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant, retiring Sept. 10, 2001. Mr. Lafferty was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Lawrence. He enjoyed working on projects for Campers on Mission, including carpentry, electrical and finish work.
He married Mary Edith Owens on May 23, 1959, in De Soto. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include his father, Bill, De Soto; mother-in-law Edith Owens Riley,De Soto; a son, Roy, and wife Kathy, Lawrence; three daughters, Teresa Hartford and husband Timothy, Pleasant Prairie, Wis., Cheryl Puentes and husband Reynaldo, Lawrence, and Linda Jordan and husband T.J., of Ruthven, Iowa; a brother, Larry, Valley Center; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother and a brother, James.
The family will meet friends from 9 a.m. until the service time Tuesday at the church.
The family suggests memorials to the First Southern Baptist Church of Lawrence Building Fund or to the Jefferson County Humane Society.
