Drew Ryan Anderson

Funeral services for Drew Ryan Anderson, 22, Kansas City, Kan., will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1086 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kan. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery.
Mr. Anderson, died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at the Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan.
He was born May 24, 1989, in Neu-Ulm, Germany, the son of Kent and Wendee Kost Anderson. He suffered from muscular dystrophy since childhood.
He graduated from Piper High School in 2007 and attended the KU School of Journalism and Mass Communications. He graduated with a degree in May of 2011. During college, he also served as copy chief for the University Daily Kansan and was an intern for the Lawrence Journal-World.
He was an avid KU sports fan and was very active with the Muscular Dystrophy Association. He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6654 Auxiliary in De Soto.
Survivors include his parents, Kent and Wendee Anderson, of the home; a brother; Tanner Anderson; grandmother Frances Kost; grandfather John Rosenbaum and wife Ellen, of Metamora, Ill.; grandparents Gary Anderson and wife Marilyn, of Lawrence, and Virgil Newell and wife Alice, of Baldwin City; great-grandmothers Beulah Anderson and Lenora Crumet, both of Lawrence, and Shirley Rosenbaum, of Metamora, Ill.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his grandfather, Richard Kost, and his faithful companion Cleo.
The family will meet friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS.
