Laymond 'Gene' Percival 1934 - 2011 Lawrence
Funeral services for Laymond “Gene” Percival, 77, Lawrence will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Southern Baptist Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Percival died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at his home.
He was born May 19, 1934 in Lone Star, the son of Melvin R. and Tilda C. Campbell Percival.
He grew up in rural Douglas County and attended grade school in the Washington Creek area and high school in Overbrook.
He worked as a self-employed farmer, truck driver and mechanic.
Mr. Percival was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church and enjoyed church and spending time with his family.
He married Judy Faulkner on June 8, 1971, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Ida Johnson and husband Brad, Lawrence, and DeAnna Gatrel, Issaquah, Wash.; four grandchildren, Gabe and Kyla Johnson, and Trey and Zach Gatrel; and one brother, Ivan, Lawrence.
The family will receive friends from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care, sent in care of the mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
