Vicky Lynn Hrovat

Memorial services for Vicky Lynn Hrovat, 58, rural Lawrence, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at University Community of Christ Church. Inurnment will be at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.
Mrs. Hrovat died Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born Sept. 16, 1953, in Dexter, Iowa, the daughter of Richard C. and Florence Mae Smith Turpen. She graduated from high school in West Des Moines, Iowa, and later graduated from Colorado Technical School.
Mrs. Hrovat worked in Information Technology. She was formerly a co-pastor and elder of Community of Christ Church in Canoga Park, Calif. She was a member of University Community of Christ Church in Lawrence, and of Women of Harley. She enjoyed shopping, baking, jewelry-making, the outdoors, and playing with her dogs and cats.
She married John M. Hrovat on Dec. 18, 1971, in Des Moines. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Marshall and wife Erin, Anamosa, Iowa, and Matthew, Lawrence; a brother, Keith Turpen and wife Marsha, Ankeny, Iowa; three sisters, Verna Snow, San Antonio, Tex., Sally Myers and husband Dan, Altoona, Iowa, and Bonnie Whitehall and husband Jeff, Magnolia, Tex.; and two sisters-in-law, Christine Clark and husband Jimmy, Mt. Pleasant, Tex., and Julie Walker and husband Geoff, Monee, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
