Emilee ‘Lavon’ Hickock-Williams

Memorial services for Emilee “Lavon” Hickock-Williams, 91, Wellsville, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at a later date in Oak Hill cemetery.
Ms. Williams died Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, at her home.
She was born Jan. 22, 1920, in Ottawa, the daughter of Fred and Nell Anderson Brown. Shortly after birth, her family moved to Lawrence, where she graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in 1937, raised a family and lived most of her life.
Ms. Williams enjoyed visiting and caring for her elderly friends, making elaborate wedding and birthday cakes, assembling an ornate wooden dollhouse, volunteering at West Side Presbyterian Church, and tending to her countless petunias. She also enjoyed camping with the Red Dale Campers Club, volunteering with LINK and tatting with the Tatting and Lace Guild of Lawrence.
At age 81, she gave up driving and sold her home in Lawrence to move to Kingsville, Mo., to live with her daughter and son-in-law. In 2008, they moved to Wellsville.
She married Harry Herbert Hickock in 1938. After 41 years of marriage, he preceded her in death in 1979. She married Raymond Williams in 1985, and he preceded her in death in 1992.
Survivors include two sons, Harold Hickock and wife Anna Marie, Lecompton, and John Hickock, Ottawa; a daughter, Elaine Rogers and husband Bill, Wellsville; and 10 grandchildren, Harlan Hickock, Barb Wolf, Tamra Lucas, Bruce Rogers, Anita Rogers, Alan Rogers, Angela Wright, John Hickock, Sharla Percival and Shaun Hickock. She also had 28 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the service time Friday.
The family suggests memorials to Olathe Medical Center Hospice, sent in care of the funeral home, 601 Ind., Lawrence, KS 66044.
