Sandra D. Snyder 1935 - 2011 Topeka
A memorial service for Sandra D. Snyder, 76, of Lawrence, formerly of Topeka, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Countryside United Methodist Church in Topeka. Private family inurnment will be at a later date.
Mrs. Snyder died Monday, Nov. 14, 2011.
She was born July 29, 1935, in Hiawatha, the daughter of John Ross and M. Marjorie Streeter Moyer.
Mrs. Snyder opened her home to many foster children and was involved with TARC, Capper Foundation, and Sheltered Living. She was an active member of Countryside United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, loved to sing and play bridge, and was an active participant in community service work.
She married Gail A. Snyder on Aug. 14, 1953, in Hamlin. He preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Sue Bosserman, and a brother, John Dirck Moyer.
Survivors include her children, Stephen B. Snyder and wife Judy, Merriam, Sheryl D. Brann and husband Michael, Lawrence, Dona S. Wahwassuck and husband John, Topeka, and Christina M. Snyder, Topeka; seven grandchildren, Jessica Anderson, Stephen Snyder, Jason Snyder, Christopher Brann, Catherine Brann, Rikki Kluber and Kaitlyn Kluber; three great-grandchildren, Landon, Clayton and Michaela; a soon to be great-grandson; a brother, James B. Moyer, Vancouver, B.C.; and special friend, cousin and supporter Bob Snyder.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel in Topeka, 1321 SW 10th Ave., where the family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to the ALS Association, 27001 Agoura Road, Suite 250, Calabasas Hills, CA 91301, or to Heifer International, 1 World Avenue, Little Rock, AR 72202.
