Glenn “Leroy” Bender

Glenn “Leroy” Bender, 82, of Oskaloosa, KS., died early Friday, November 11, 2011 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was born October 8, 1929 at Maple Hill, KS., the son of Forrest Glenn and Eula Berniece Loveland Bender. Mr. Bender graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1948. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked for Hampton’s Furniture Store as manager well as the Hampton’s Ambulance Service. He served as the administrator for the Jefferson County Ambulance Services for 20 years. He married Wilma Glaso in 1958. They later divorced. He then married Cora Crawford on 1986. She preceded him in death on June 9, 2010. Survivors include a son Alan Bender, Oskaloosa, two daughters, Arlene Beurman and Lynn Patterson both of Oskaloosa, a brother, Eugene Bender, Pataskala, OH., seven Grandchildren and five Great-Grandchildren. Chapel Services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at Barnett Family Funeral Home, 1220 Walnut St., Oskaloosa. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
