Harvey R. Taber

Harvey R. Taber, 84 of Lawrence, Kansas, died May 29, 2011. Harvey was born January 17, 1927, to Jesse A. Taber and Orpha Mitchell Taber in the rural town of Reading, Kansas. He attended Reading schools. Harvey held various interesting jobs during his lifetime. He was a custom Combine operator, a ranch hand in Western Kansas, and a truck driver in North Dakota. In 1953 he returned to Kansas and worked for NOYA Hydrating and National Dehydrator. He then returned to farm management before becoming an independent woodsman. Harvey’s hobbies included breaking horses, gardening, canning, Chevy truck restoration and country music. Harvey was also a huge fan of wrestling, boxing, and rodeos, especially bull riding.
Harvey was the beloved father of Karen (Dave) Butts of Orting, WA, Jessica Wingerd of Leavenworth, KS and son Raymond Worthington Taber. Harvey was a grandfather of 8 and great-grandfather of 10. He was the beloved brother of Harry, Alice, Georgie, Roy, David, Charles, Elsie, and Ruth. He was preceded in death by all except Charles, Ruth and Elsie. He was cremated. Graveside inurnment will be at a later date in the Reading, Kansas cemetery. He was very much loved by his family and will be missed greatly.
