David Robert ‘Bob’ Perkins

Graveside services for David Robert “Bob” Perkins, 89, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence. The Rev. Dr. Peter Luckey will officiate.
Mr. Perkins died Saturday, May 28, 2011, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.
He was born June 1, 1921, in Lawrence, the son of David Sanders and Elsie Belle Watson Perkins. He graduated from Lawrence Memorial High School.
He was a farmer in the Eudora and Wellsville areas. He served on the Miami County Farm Bureau Board of Directors and the Miami County Committee of the United States Department of Agriculture. After retiring from farming, he moved to Lawrence. He worked as a field assistant for the USDA Service Center in Lawrence from 1989 to 2004.
He married Betty Jo Wilson on Dec. 16, 1942, in Olathe. She preceded him in death Jan. 15, 2010.
Mr. Perkins was also preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Malcolm, and four sisters, Mildred Smith, Velma Snyder, Frances Childs and Martha Lou Robb.
Survivors include two sons, Perry and wife Joyce, Lawrence, and Jim and wife Brenda, Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Jean Winters, Perry; three grandchildren, Laura Sampson, Kimberly Davis, and Mike Perkins; eight great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where family will receive them from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to Lawrence Presbyterian Manor and to the Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation, and Hospice Care, sent in care of the funeral home, 601 Ind. St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
