Shirley Meiers

Funeral services for Shirley Meiers, 76, Lawrence, will be at 1:55 p.m. today at the Feltner Funeral Home in Lyndon. Burial will be in the Vassar Cemetery.
Mrs. Meiers died Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Pioneer Ridge in Lawrence.
She was born Oct. 6, 1934, in Quenemo, the daughter of Ernest and Nellie Redenbaugh Miller. She graduated from Quenemo High School in 1953.
Mrs. Meiers grew up in Quenemo, had lived most of her life in Topeka, and had been in Lawrence for the last year. She was a homemaker and had been a bookkeeper for Donaldson’s Jewelers in Topeka. Mrs. Meiers was a member of the Susanna Wesley United Methodist Church in Topeka.
She married John Meiers on Jan. 9, 1954, in Vassar. He preceded her in death on June 9, 2009.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Kenny, Marvin, Loren and Dean Miller; and a sister, June Tillman.
Surivors include a son, Robert Meiers and wife Kristina, Lawrence; a daughter, Sharon Koehler and husband Rick, Lawrence; a brother, Arlie Miller, Lyndon; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until the service time today at the funeral home.
