Edith Iona Wilson

Funeral services for Edith Iona Wilson, 91, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. today at the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Buster Cemetery in Jefferson County.
She died Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at her home.
She was born July 21, 1919 in Hoyt, the daughter of Dave Walter and Orpha May Thomson Blevins.
She owned and operated Edith’s Place in downtown Lawrence in the 1960s and ’70s. After it closed, she worked at Johnny’s for more than 20 years and retired in 2001.
She enjoyed garage sales and her family.
She was a member of the VFW and Eagles Lodge, Lawrence.
Survivors include two sons, Ernest Allen Beers, Lawrence, and Thomas “Tom” Wilson, Perry; a daughter, Sandra J. Anzek, Lawrence; a brother, Bob Blevins, of Arkansas; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, David E. Beers in 1997; a grandson, Casey Anzek in 2008; three brothers, George, Jim and Harold Blevins; and a sister, Clara Schlick.
Friends may call until service time at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care, sent in care of the funeral home, 601 Ind., Lawrence, KS 66044.
