Dorothy Bryan 1924 - 2011 Lawrence
A memorial service for Dorothy Bryan, 87, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Clinton Parkway Assembly of God, 3200 Clinton Parkway, Lawrence. Inurnment will take place later.
Mrs. Bryan died Wednesday, May 11, 2011, after a brief illness.
She was born Jan. 9, 1924, in Quenemo, the daughter of Lela Craig Comstock and Frank N. Craig.
Mrs. Bryan served as the Quenemo Post Office postmaster from 1960 until her retirement in 1984. She and her husband moved to Lawrence in 1991 and attended the Clinton Parkway Assembly of God Church.
She married Harold G. Bryan on Aug. 30, 1941, in Basehor. They shared 55 years of marriage. He preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include three sons, Robert Bryan and wife Susan, Emory, Texas, Harold Bryan and wife Mary Ann, Oskaloosa, and Jerry Mike Bryan and wife Sheila, Sherrard, Ill.; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jim Craig, Douglas, Wyo., and Ralph Comstock, Indianapolis; two brothers-in-law; and special friend, Covert Cranwell.
The family suggests memorials to the Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice, 200 Maine, Third Floor, Lawrence, KS 66044.
