Reva L. Irick, 87, of Baldwin City, KS, died Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Presbyterian Manor in Lawrence, KS. She was born July 1, 1923 in Paola, KS, the daughter of Earl and Metta Nichols Wren.
Reva grew up and attended grade school and high school in Paola. She was united in marriage to James Irick in Tonganoxie April 2, 1945.
Reva was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed working in her yard, caring for her pets, listening to music, and following Baker University and KU sporting events on the radio. She worked for many years in the library and administrative support at Baker University. She served as a volunteer at the Baldwin City Public Library and for the Meals on Wheels program. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Baldwin City.
Funeral services will be held in the Clarice L. Osborne Memorial Chapel at Baker University, Monday, May 16, 2011 at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 PM until service time. A private burial is planned.
Reva is survived by two daughters; Janelle Irick Ballew, Lawrence, KS, Rebecca Henke, Yorktown, VA, three sons; Larry Irick, Lawrence, KS, Gary Irick, Baldwin City, KS, Jim Irick and wife Patty, Baldwin City, KS, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James, and two brothers, Raymond and Ronald Wren.
The family suggest memorials be made to the Baldwin City Public Library, Meals on Wheels or Heart of America Hospice and sent to Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 64, Baldwin City, KS 66006. Online condolences may be left at www.lamb-roberts.com.
