Shirley Anne Lang

Mass of Christian Burial for Shirley Anne Lang, 76, of Overbrook, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Scranton, with the Rev. Anthony Ouellette as celebrant. Private family inurnment will take place in Rock Creek Cemetery.
Mrs. Lang died Thursday, May 5, 2011, at her home.
She was born July 8, 1934, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of Leonard and Mildred Overcash Jones. She attended local Catholic schools and later attended Ward High School.
Mrs. Lang was a homemaker. She was an active member of the St. Francis Catholic Church for many years. She belonged to the Altar Society and taught catechism and drove the Sunday school bus.
She also belonged to Overbrook T.O.P.S. Club and Flower Club. She enjoyed taking bus trips and loved gardening and her yard. She worked at the sale barn, where she sold her pies.
She married Robert A. Lang on July 12, 1952. He preceded her in death on Aug. 20, 2006.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Nancy Lang, Harold and Mary Lang, Leo and Karen Lang, and John and Linda Lang, all of Overbrook, and Tom and Diane Lang of Michigan Valley; daughters and sons-in-law Leanne and Ron Arnold of Lawrence, and Roberta and Andy Peterson of Overbrook; brothers Leonard Jones Jr. and wife Sharon of Kansas City, Kan., and Roger and Barb Jones of Kansas City, Mo.; sisters Marion Airington of Gladstone, Mo., Florence and Fred Wilburn of North Kansas City, Mo., and Phyllis and Ernie Carrico of Blue Springs, Mo.; along with 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood-Roberts Funeral Home, 730 Western Height Drive, Overbrook, where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.
