Ruth "Jeanette" Roberts 1935 - 2011
There will be no services for Ruth “Jeanette” Roberts, 75, Lawrence. Inurnment will take place in the Flora Hills Cemetery in Kansas City, Mo.
She died March 4, 2011, at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community.
She was born May 12, 1935, in Moberly, Mo., the daughter of G. Harold and Ruth Breckenridge Roberts.
Ms. Roberts received her bachelor’s degree from Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, Mo., in 1957. She then received her master’s degree in education from Kansas University in 1968. She did her postdoctoral work at KU.
She was a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha Social sorority and a member of the Kansas National Education Association (KNEA). She was a former board member of the Lawrence Humane Society and was a building representative and negotiation team of the LEA. She was also a teacher at Central Junior High School, where she coached basketball and track.
Survivors include two brothers, David E. Roberts and wife Nancy, Lawrence, Dean B. Roberts and wife Mary Lou, Nashville, Tenn.; two nieces; and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, George L. Roberts Jr.
The family suggests memorials to the Lawrence Humane Society, sent in care of the mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
