Mary Jo Spotts

Mary Jo Spotts, 78, departed this life on Monday, June 27, 2011, at her home.
She was the daughter of Joseph Humphrey Marshall and Hazel McComas of Liberty, Missouri. Her parents were from the Marshall, Missouri, area.
She was an avid Bridge player and was a member of the University Club and several others.
She married James V. Spotts and from this marriage she had two sons James V. Spotts, III and Joseph M. Spotts who preceded her in death. Following the divorce she worked at KU in the Credit Dept until her retirement.
She belonged to Trinity Lutheran Church and was a valued Stephen Minister. She continued to serve in this position until her death. She was a great and loving friend who had an infectious laugh, a loving heart and was always willing to give a helping hand when someone was in need.
She is survived by cousins Tom (Cindy) Wiltshire, Eldon MO, Marsha Grimes, Liberty, MO, David (Bonnie) McComas , Independence, MO, Jim (Rosemary) Wiltshire, Liberty, MO, and Caroline (Larry) Immerman, Essex, CT.
In Lieu of flowers, Memorials can be sent to Stephen Ministries or the Lawrence Humane Society, in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2011 at Oak Hill Cemetery with Pastor Gary Teske officiating.
