Aileen Hartpence

Funeral services for Aileen Hartpence, 93, Lawrence, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery in Ottawa.
She died Monday, June 20, 2011, at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community in Lawrence.
She was born Jan. 29, 1918, in Miami County, the daughter of Reuben W. and Fredonia Quellhorst Myers.
Mrs. Hartpence worked as secretary at Baker University in the dean’s office and retired from the Anderson Byrd Richeson Law Firm in Ottawa.
She lived in Baldwin City and Ottawa and then moved to Lawrence in 1989. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Lawrence.
She married George W. Hartpence on April 20, 1937, in Topeka. They celebrated 73 years of marriage. He preceded her in death April 13, 2010.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Roger; a granddaughter, Sara Hartpence; and three brothers, Royce, Lauren and Wendell.
Survivors include a daughter, LaWanda Fritzson, Topeka; a son, Doug Hartpence and wife Robin, Lawrence; a daughter-in-law, Tricia Hartpence, Baldwin City; a sister, Bernadine Broers, Baldwin City; a brother, Gale Myers and wife Helen, Kentucky; three sisters-in-law, Ne Eva Myers and Marian Myers, both of Arizona, Patsy Myers, Washington; six grandsons, Matthew Hartpence, Darin Fritzson, Eric Fritzson, Tyler Hartpence, Connor Hartpence and Logan Hartpence; two step-granddaughters, Mallory Tapley and husband Trey, and Reagan Burton; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family will greet friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
