Kathryn L. Heck 1921 - 2011 Overland Park
Funeral services for Kathryn L. Heck, 89, Overland Park, formerly of Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Gary Teske officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Heck died Friday, June 17, 2011, at Delmar Gardens of Overland Park.
She was born Aug. 26, 1921, in Lawrence, the daughter of Charles Arthur and Ruby Alma McLean Wise.
Mrs. Heck was a lifelong Lawrence area resident. She attended Bismarck Grade School and graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in 1939. After high school, she attended Kansas University and Lawrence Business College. Mrs. Heck was a homemaker and enjoyed many bridge groups. She and her husband farmed and raised cattle north of Lawrence for many years.
She married Howard F. Heck on Jan. 25, 1942, in Lawrence. He preceded her in death Oct. 25, 1985.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Dick Wise, and a sister, Helen Heck Taylor.
Survivors include a son, Fred Heck, Ottawa; two daughters, Sherry Nelson and husband David, Lawrence, and Becky Isaac and husband Larry, Overland Park; four grandchildren, Lisa Talley, Missi Carpenter, Kelli Curry and Kristi Stallings; and six great-grandchildren, Brandi, Haley, Kassie, Regan, Reese and Colton.
The family suggests memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church or to Odyssey Hospice, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, 601 Ind., Lawrence, KS 66044.
