Hubert ‘Herb’ V. Kornbrust

Graveside services for Hubert “Herb” V. Kornbrust, 85, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
Mr. Kornbrust died Friday, June 17, 2011, at Colmery-O’Neil VA Medical Center in Topeka.
He was born Feb. 8, 1926, in Mendon, Mo., the son of John V. and Bernadette Wolfe Kornbrust.
Mr. Kornbrust was a journeyman lineman for the I.B.E.W. Local Union No. 304. He owned Kornbrust Pole-Line Builders for 25 years. He was a member of the American Legion, Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14, the Moose Lodge in Topeka and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Lawrence.
He married Jewell Jean Dorrell in Marceline, Mo. They were married for 48 years until she died Dec. 9, 1991. He later married Charlene Crady Robinson on Jan. 8, 1994, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include four daughters, Linda Walthall and husband John, Kay Lang and husband Russ, Pamela Rothwell, and Phyllis Kornbrust, all of Lawrence; two sons, Jerry Vincent and wife Jan, Donald L. and wife Debbie, all of Lawrence; a sister, Anna Lou Schondfelt and husband Rick, Independence, Mo.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three stepdaughters, Nancy L. Tomlin and husband Bill, Terri Pentlin and husband Dan, and Sherry Welter and husband Joe, all of Perry; two stepsons, Danny Robinson and friend Sandee, and Scott Robinson and wife Sharolyn, Lawrence; 12 stepgrandchildren; 24 stepgreat-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Roberta Brewer, and an infant daughter, Donna June, in 1951.
The family will greet friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
The family suggests memorials to Meals on Wheels or to Douglas County Visiting Nurses Association, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care, sent in care of the mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
