Harlan F. Miller 1930 - 2011 Ottawa
Graveside memorial services for Harlan F. Miller, 81, of Ottawa, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Highland Cemetery in Ottawa. He was cremated.
Mr. Miller died Wednesday, June 15, 2011.
He was born on Jan. 23, 1930, in Quenemo, the son of Roy A. and Ruth L. Prewitt Miller. He graduated from Pomona High School with the class of 1949 and was a lifelong Franklin County resident.
Mr. Miller was self-employed as a mechanic, owning and operating Harlan's Car & Truck Repair in Ottawa since 1950.
He was a member of Ottawa Lodge 803, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, and Aerie 2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles, in Ottawa.
He married Thelma Bunch on Aug. 4, 1950, in Ottawa. She survives of their home.
Other survivors include two sons, Calvin and wife Kathy, and Kenny and wife Lisa, all of Ottawa; a daughter, Melissa “Cathy” Miller of Albuquerque, N.M.; two sisters, Charlotte Chambers, of Baldwin City, and Treva Simmons, of Manhattan; a brother, Melvin, of Pomona; a sister-in-law, Vada Miller, of Pomona; six grandchildren, Callie Browning, Kassy Moore, Andrew Miller, Addison Miller, Alyssa Miller and Aaron Miller; two great-grandchildren, Daniel Moffatt and Hailey Moore; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Carroll; and a grandson, Tyler Ray Miller.
The family will meet friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa.
The family suggests memorials to Franklin County Cancer Foundation, sent in care of the mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, KS 66067.
