Hazel Ellen Boyd Edgecomb

Funeral services for Hazel Ellen Boyd Edgecomb, 97, Centropolis, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Eight Mile Old German Baptist Brethren Church west of Centropolis. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, northwest of the church.
She died Sunday, June 12, 2011, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Edgecomb was born Oct. 16, 1913, near Lincoln, Neb., the daughter of Ernest and Alice Riffey Boyd. She moved to Kansas with her family near Sawyer in January 1916, where she attended Sand Creek School in Pratt County. 
She married George Edgecomb on April 18, 1943, at her parents’ home. They lived in Eudora for almost a year and then moved to a farm near Overbrook,. and lived in the area until after her husband’s death on March 19, 2000. They were married almost 57 years.
She then moved to Centropolis in May 2003.
Mrs. Edgecomb was also preceded in death by her parents, brothers Jesse, Ivan and Earl, and two sisters, Edith Pollock and Lucy Bell Boyd.
She is survived by her two sons, Lester and wife Carolyn and Glen and wife Janice; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Ethel Wagoner; sister-in-laws Oella, Martha and Nancy Edgecomb, and Margaret Boyd; and many nieces, nephews and friends. 
The family will receive friends at the church from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. The family suggests memorials to the Grace Hospice, left at or sent to Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 14, Ottawa, KS 66006.
