Carol D. Parker Bevens 1933 - 2011 Gardner
Memorial services for Carol D. Parker Bevens, 78, Gardner, formerly of Lawrence and Pomona, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home & Crematory. Inurnment will follow at Eudora City Cemetery.
Mrs. Bevens died Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Medicalodges Gardner.
She was born March 15, 1933, in Lawrence, the daughter of Charles R. and Bessie Meadows Parker. She attended Liberty Memorial High School.
Mrs. Bevens was a nursing assistant at Valley View Nursing Home. She enjoyed art and sketching.
She married Zelma Eugene “Gene” “Beve” Bevens. He preceded her in death in 1993.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Jean Bevens, in 1969 and a grandson, Guy Edwards III.
Survivors include two sons, Guy Edwards Jr., Pomona, and Charles W. Bevens, Harris; a daughter, Nancy Asher and husband Garry, Lawrence; a brother, Charles R. Parker Jr., Oskaloosa; a sister, Janet K. Girnius, McLouth; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to the Carol Bevens Memorial Fund, sent in care of the funeral home, 601 Ind., Lawrence, KS, 66044.
