Sharon L. Mitchell 1947 - 2011 Lawrence
Sharon Mitchell
Funeral services for Sharon L. Mitchell, 64, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Mitchell died Friday, July 22, 2011, at her home.
She was born June 9, 1947, in Warrensburg, Mo., the daughter of Milton C. and Corine Grant Brown. She was a 1966 graduate of Lawrence High School.
Mrs. Mitchell was a retired kitchen manager at Kennedy Elementary School in Lawrence. She retired from USD 497 in 2009.
She married Donald A. Mitchell on Dec. 6, 1969, in Lawrence. He preceded her in death Dec. 2, 2005.
Survivors include five daughters, Maria Jackson, T’Nita Faataolia and Amanda Mitchell, all of San Diego, Rebecca Mitchell, Lawrence, and Y’Sondra Dixon, Topeka; a son, Donald Mitchell, Defiance, Ohio; 19 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will greet friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Association, sent in care of the mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
