Larry Sanford

A Celebration of Life for Larry Sanford, 74, Lawrence, will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Lawrence Chapel Oaks Funeral Home. Cremation is planned.
Mr. Sanford died Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at The Arbor at Brandon Woods at Alvamar, Lawrence.
He was born May 31, 1937, in Detroit, the son of Raymond M. and A. Irene McMinn Sanford.
Mr. Sanford served in the U.S. Army for six years. He attended Kansas University.
He worked in telecommunications as an installer of equipment. Mr. Sanford was a handyman and kept busy fixing things.
He married Karron Transmeier. They divorced. He married Judy Irene Ross on July 1, 1966, in Holton. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include four daughters, Marcia Castillo-Mar, Council Bluffs, Iowa, Martine Padilla, Olathe, Mindy Irene Kahle, Perry, and Kristy Ann Ross, Eudora; two brothers, Galen, Camden, Mo., and Danny, Lecompton; two sisters, Karen Werts, Topeka, and Diana Guffey, Kansas City, Kan.; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Don.
Friends may call one hour prior to services.
The family suggests memorials to The Arbor (Alzheimer’s unit) at Brandon Woods at Alvamar or Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care, sent in care of the funeral home, 3821 W. Sixth St., Lawrence, KS 66049.
