Dewey Parnell Richardson

Funeral services for Dewey Parnell Richardson, 82, Eudora, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary – Eudora Chapel. Burial will follow at Eudora Cemetery.
Mr. Richardson died Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Medicalodges in Eudora.
He was born Sept. 29, 1928, in Timbo, Ark., the son of Lloyd J. and Merry Ethel Dodson Richardson. He had been a resident of Eudora since 1952.
Mr. Richardson worked at Hercules before owning and operating Richardson Music in Lawrence from 1959 until he retired in 1971. He taught music lessons and enjoyed playing the guitar and banjo. He was also an avid gardener.
He was a member of Eudora Baptist Church and a former member of Whitewater Baptist Church in Mountain View, Ark. He served on the Eudora City Council and the Eudora School Board.
He married Mildred “Lorene” Gammill on May 6, 1946, in Oxley, Ark. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Alandra Rice and husband Bob, Eudora; two sons, Dwane and wife Valerie, Eudora, and Lyle and wife Bobbi, Rogers, Ark.; six grandchildren, Kyle Christiansen, Kirsten Boyd, Barclay Richardson, Angela Fox, Kinya Patterson and Terra Bounds; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, Hugh, Moberly, Mo., Clois Richardson, Mountain View, Don Richardson, England, Ark.; and a sister, Mona Faye Hayes, Mountain View.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Sibyl Wolverton, Blonda Long and Dollie Storer.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary — Eudora Chapel.
