Augusta F. Flory 1927 - 2011 Lawrence
Graveside services for Augusta F. “Gussie” Flory, 83, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Washington Creek Cemetery in southwestern Douglas County.
Mrs. Flory died Sunday, July 17, 2011, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born Sept. 12, 1927, in Clinton, the daughter of Vitus and Fern Augusta French Hadl. She attended Liberty Memorial High School and graduated from Lawrence High School.
Mrs. Flory was a secretary for the Kansas Department of Revenue and retired in 1992 after 15 years of service. She was a member of Lone Star Church of the Brethren and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She married Francis C. Flory on June 10, 1944. He preceded her in death June 4, 1975. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Carter.
Survivors include a son, James Flory and wife Donna, Lawrence; a daughter, Marilyn Gibbs and husband Roy, Suwanee, Ga.; two sisters, Marjorie Wilson and husband Earl, Lawrence, and Jeanette Auchard and husband V. Allen, Bucyrus, Ohio; four grandchildren, Fred Smith, Louise Flory, Mindi Raby and Lisa Richardson; and four great-grandchildren, Alton and Ashley Chaney, and Lily and George Raby.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive them from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The casket will remain closed.
The family suggests memorials to Lone Star Church of the Brethren or to Visiting Nurses, sent in care of the funeral home, 601 Ind., Lawrence, KS 66044.
