David Michael Oberzan

Service for David Michael Oberzan, 62, Fort Worth, Texas, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 12th and Kentucky streets in Lawrence.
Mr. Oberzan died Thursday, July 14, 2011, at his home after a battle with cancer.
He was born Jan. 2, 1949, in Pittsburg, the son of Rudy James and Agnes Marie Oberzan.
Mr. Oberzan was raised in Lawrence. He attended St. John’s Catholic School and Central Junior High School. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1967, an all-state halfback on the 1966 State Championship team.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University in 1972. Mr. Oberzan was the marketing manager for HealthSouth Hospital for nine years and director of family medicine at JPS Hospital for seven years. Most recently, he held the position of clinic manager of GI and Endocrine Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Mr. Oberzan was a member of the Medical Group Management Association and the American College of Healthcare Executives.
He married Diana Disselhoff on Nov. 25, 1983, in Parkville, Mo. She survives of Fort Worth.
Other survivors include a daughter, Chaney Elizabeth Oberzan, Fort Worth; a son, Tanner Cade, Fort Worth; four brothers, Rudy, of Epping, N.H., and Joe, John and Tom, all of Lawrence; and a sister, Anne Look, Glendale, Ariz.
He preceded in death by his parents.
