Clyde Harold Stuntz

A Celebration of Life service for Clyde Harold Stuntz, 91, Greene, was Friday, Jan. 21, in Greene. Funeral service was Saturday, Jan. 22, at the United Methodist Church in Greene.
Mr. Stuntz died Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, at Via Christe in Omaha, Neb.
He was born July 11, 1919, in Greene, the son of Harold and Margaret Montgomery Stuntz.
Mr. Stuntz graduated with a degree in dairy industry from Iowa State University. While at Iowa State, he was a member of Farm House fraternity. Mr. Stuntz was a member of the dairy judging team from Iowa State that traveled to Toronto, Canada, in October 1941.
After graduating from Iowa State, he returned to Greene to manage the Greene Cooperative Creamery. He remained manager of the creamery until he started raising turkeys on the family farm south of Greene, a business he continued for over 50 years.
Mr. Stuntz served on the United Methodist board, Waterloo Production Credit board, and the Greene School Board. He was instrumental in installing the grass greens at Round Grove Golf and Country Club in Greene.
Mr. Stuntz was an avid golfer, winning the Greene Round Grove Golf and Country Club men’s championship several times. He and his wife also competed together in golf tournaments, and they also spent much time fishing on lakes in Minnesota and Canada. Mr. Stuntz also enjoyed bridge, travel, and time with family and friends.
He married Esther Fern Newcomer on Dec. 20, 1942, in Iowa City. She preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, a brother, three sisters, a sister-in-law, and two brothers-in-law.
Survivors include two daughters, Martha McCampbell and husband Hugh, Sweetwater, Tenn., and Linda Backer and husband Mark, Arcadia, Wis.; two sons, Wendell and wife Lyn, Council Bluffs, and Richard and wife Kathy, Lawrence, Kan.; 11 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
