Ardell Arthur Nathan 1933 - 2011 Lawrence
Funeral services for Ardell Arthur Nathan, 77, Lawrence, will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22 at Crown Hill Cemetery in Madison, Neb.
Mr. Nathan died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at his home.
He was born May 28, 1933, in Madison, Neb., the son of Arthur Otto and Gladys Agnes Bartak Nathan.
Mr. Nathan attended Madison High School and Sioux Empire Junior College in Hawarden, Iowa.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1965, serving in Greenland and all over the U.S., including Pensacola. Following his retirement from the military, Mr. Nathan worked as a railroad clerk for Chicago Northwestern from 1965 until he retired in 1994. He joined the Iowa National Guard in the early 1990s.
He was member of the Madison VFW and was an avid Nebraska football fan.
He married Charlita Facto Faderes on April 12, 2004, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include three daughters, Terri Neibaur, Saratoga Springs, Utah, Sandy McClary, Delano, Tenn., and Cecilia Paez, Lawrence; six sons, Steve and Rich, and Jestoni Mijares, all of Lawrence, Rick Nichols, Phoenix, Randy, Jacksonville, Fla., and Arthur James, Green River, Wyo.; 22 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will greet friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. today and from 5 p.m. until service time on Friday at the mortuary.
