Philip Pell Eudora

Paid family tribute

Philip Pell, 39, passed away Thursday, January 6, at his home in Eudora, KS. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, January 9, 2011 at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Ave., KC MO. Burial to follow at B’nai Israel Cemetery in Eudora, KS. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the Lawrence American Legion following the interment. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund, c/o New Reform Temple, 7100 Main, Kansas City, MO 64114.
Philip was born in Lawrence, Kansas, to Richard A. and Elizabeth Lynne Potter Pell. He graduated from Baldwin City High School in 1990 and was an Eagle Scout from BSA Troop 65. He graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor’s in Biology and Environmental Science. Philip spent his career in Information Technology, a field that he loved; most recently as the Chief Information Security Officer for Butler Community College.
Philip married Marcie Dalquest in 1998 in Lawrence, KS and they welcomed their son, Nathan, into their family six years later.
Philip is preceded in death by his father, Richard A. Pell, and grandparents Elizabeth Pell and William and Olive Potter. Survivors include his wife Marcie and son Nathan of the home. Mother, Elizabeth “Lynne” Pell and her companion Jay VanVelzen, Baldwin City, KS. Brother and Sister-in-Law Hunter and Teresa Pell of Irving, TX. Grandfather Luke Pell of De Soto, KS. In-Laws Donald and Jo Ann Dalquest of Lawrence, KS and Erica Spurling of Eudora, KS. Nephews JT, Logan, Alex, Adam and Shawn; niece Emily, and many loving Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Phil also had a very supportive Facebook following.
