Jack "Jackie" LeRoy Tyree 1938 - 2011 Baldwin City

Jack Tyree, 72, of Baldwin City, died February 13, 2011, in Mission, Texas. Born September 7, 1938 in Picher, Oklahoma, Jack was the son of Vera Hand and Leonard Newton (Jack) Tyree.
Jack grew up in Wichita, Kansas. On December 27, 1957, he was united in marriage to Bethel Marie Mueller in Newkirk, Oklahoma. They enjoyed more than 53 years of marriage prior to Jack’s death.
Jack served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 until 1957 and the Naval Reserve until 1961. He was a life member of the Brick Layers Local and International Union with over 50 years of service. He retired in 1992 from Lindsey Masonry.
Jack and Bethel were members of Tiblow Good Sam Camping Club and were Winter Texans since 1996. Jack had a variety of interests. He was an avid gardener. He enjoyed shuffleboard, cards and dominos. Jack loved boating, fishing and square dancing. He also cherished working with wood.
Funeral services will be at 11 AM, Monday, February 21st, in the chapel of Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, 325 So. Hickory St., Ottawa, with burial to follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Baldwin City, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 3 PM until 5 PM Sunday at the funeral home in Ottawa.
Jack is survived by his wife, Bethel Tyree, of the home; a son, Doug Tyree and his wife Michelle, Lawrence, KS; a daughter, Linda Land and her husband Jerry, Olathe, KS; a daughter-in-law, Theresa Tyree of Eudora, KS; two brothers, Bob Johnson, Grand Lake, OK, and Bill Johnson, Neosho, MO. Jack also had eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and a son, James Tyree.
