James Delbert King

A memorial visitation for James Delbert King, 56, Baldwin City, will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, 712 Ninth St., Baldwin City. A Celebration of Life at the Lodge in Baldwin City will follow. Inurnment will be at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery.
He died Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at his home after a long battle with cancer.
Mr. King was born Oct. 28, 1954, in Lawrence to Delbert “Dub” and Jeanne Fischer King.
He attended schools in Baldwin City, graduating from Baldwin City High School in 1972. He was on the student council and lettered in golf. He attended Baker University for two years and was in the Kappa Sigma fraternity.
Mr. King was a parts manager for Dale Wiley Automotive for many years. He was an avid NASCAR fan and a huge KU sports fan.
In 1982, he married Deborah Shumate. They later divorced. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include son Joseph “JD” and wife Mindy, Baldwin City; daughter Kylie King; 4 nieces; and a nephew.
 James was preceded in death by his parents, sister Judy Davidson, and brothers Keith and Chris.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Friday.
