James Turner

Funeral services for James Turner, 63, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence.
Mr. Turner died Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, at his home.
He was born April 19, 1948, in Hollandale, Miss., the son of A.D. and Annie Mae Turner Hicks.
He worked in the sanitation department for the city of Lawrence for 29 years.
Survivors include one son, James “J.T.” Turner, Lawrence; three brothers, Joseph Hicks and wife Carolyn, Lawrence, Christopher Turner, Wichita, and T.C. Hunter, Topeka; two sisters, Elizabeth Cooper and husband Alfred, Lawrence, and Loretta Turner Cobbs and husband Otha, Topeka.
The family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care, sent in care of the mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
