Lydia L. Coleman

Funeral services for Lydia L. Coleman, 71, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ninth Street Baptist Church in Lawrence with the Rev. Delmar White officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence.
Mrs. Coleman died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, in her home.
She was born Jan. 3, 1940, in Ottawa, the daughter of Russell and Vera McNeair Logan.
Mrs. Coleman grew up in Lawrence and was a graduate of Lawrence High School. She was a homemaker and had also been a substitute school teacher. Mrs. Coleman also worked for a time on the staff at the Douglas County Council on Aging. She was a member of the Ninth Street Baptist Church and a Tai Chi Group.
She married Paul C. Coleman. He preceded her in death Nov. 1, 2008.
She was also preceded in death by a brother and a grandson.
Survivors include two daughters, Talaine Coleman Martin, Lawrence, and Sonya Johnson, Geneva, Ill.; two sons, Christopher Coleman, Overland Park, and Robert Coleman, Lawrence; four sisters, Cynthia Sims, Dallas, Rochelle Nelson, Lexington, Ky., Donna Logan, Lawrence, and Darla Lake, Addison, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to the charity of the donor’s choice, sent in care of the mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
