Brendan Scott Parker Lawrence
A memorial service for Brendan Scott Parker, 40, Lawrence, will be held at a later date in Lawrence.
He died after a long battle with alcoholism.
He was born in North Carolina. He grew up in Topeka and graduated from Topeka High School in 1989. He graduated from Parsons School of Art and Design in New York City and then worked as a technical designer in the fashion industry for several years. While living in Lawrence, he volunteered at the Lawrence Arts Center and helped with costume design at Theatre Lawrence.
Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Survivors include his father, Ellis G. Parker and wife Lynda, of Sumter, S.C.; his mother, Amy E. Oliver and husband Stephen, of Lawrence; a stepbrother, Matthew Oliver, of Phoenix; two stepsisters, Cindy Oliver, of Lawrence and Malley Jennings, of Sumter, SC; a niece and nephew; and his aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family suggests memorials to the National Council for Drug and Alcohol Addiction (www.NCADD.org), or to Theatre Lawrence, 1501 N.H., Lawrence, KS 66044.
